Portable 8-Track Music Player

Found nestled innocently away under a shelf in Past Caring, I passed this up once thinking I should be good for once and not spend money on antiques and subsequently bought by my ever-supportive girlfriend as a present. It's quickly become a favourite and I'm often asked what it's fate is to be so here we are, a vintage 70's portable 8-Track player made by Hitachi, converted into a portable set of speakers for use with portable music players of all kinds.

The photos definitely do not do it justice. The covering is in decent condition considering, needing only a well clean deserved clean and a few patch ups, I intend to keep the exterior as original as possible to keep it's charm intact. The screws that held the 8-track cassete player in place were originally going to be covered but it was decided that it changed the look of it far too much, so they will instead be replaced with something that looks good and fits right.

The strap will be replaced with a suitably good quality leather one and the clasps swapped for more flexible alternatives so the strap will lay down nicely.

Decent quality speaks and an amp with a 3.5mm stereo jack will be fitted, so any music player can be used and a good, room filling volume achieved.

As much of the original red felt will be kept as possible, while creating storage compartments for music players and accessories and various small things.
