Fruit Machine Lamp

I can remember fond times as a kid, wandering the arcade halls at Hemsby, staring transfixed for hours at the rows of flashing lights. They danced in the smoky gloom to a tune no one could know, and seemed at the time, like it was all for me. 20 years on I know far too much about electronics to believe in the magic of it all but there will always be a warm and fuzzy place in my heart for machines of that time. So it wasn't particularly surprising when mine skipped a beat when I saw this sitting in Past Caring.  I knew as soon as I saw it that no matter what happens, I must possess it! It had to be mine. And so it was.

I am now the proud owner of this fine 80's (?) Fruit machine faceplate, in fine condition and just begging for the RetroFix treatment, which good as I couldn’t possibly keep my hands off it. Around 70 individual LED bulbs, a controller and a whole bunch of scripting will soon transform this attractive and novel antique into a fully functioning light feature befitting of it’s fine heritage. Watch this space for updates ; )
